At TOPP KIDS North Haven School, we foster a close-knit, inclusive family. We believe it is our mission to mentor each child’s growth, creativity, and social and emotional development. Using our PLAY, GROW, LAUGH & LEARN model, we provide lots of opportunities through our S.T.R.E.A.M. programs (Science, Technology, Reading & Writing, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), literacy activities, nature exploration, life skills, leadership and Kids Clubs. We also support healthy lifestyles through our physical literacy initiatives based off of the new Alberta Active Afterschool guidelines.
Each TOPP KIDS program is also equipt with our extended Youth Community Facilitator Framework- Many children who require support with socialization can often benefit from some added groundwork in social-emotional learning. This framework focuses on acquiring and effectively applying the knowledge and skills involved in managing emotions, feeling and expressing empathy for others, making positive and responsible decisions, and effectively creating and maintaining a close group of peers, or community.
At TOPP KIDS Out of School Clubs we know each child is unique. There are 4 fundamentals that we both believe in and practice every day in everything we do: Play, Grow, Laugh & Learn.
We provide an environment that is safe, nurturing and stimulating, where children learn and develop through play and exploration. Our physical environment, as well as our developmentally-appropriate curriculums, are designed to meet the needs of children in all areas of development (social, physical, intellectual, cognitive, and emotional). Individualized planning and supportive interactions between our staff and the children help us to create an atmosphere that feels safe and encourage feelings of self-worth, creativity and leadership. We aim to develop true TOPP KIDS!
It is our mission to provide accessible, affordable & high quality Out of School programs and training to Albertan families and Early Childhood Educators.
In addition to our regular before and after school programming, TOPP KIDS is proud to offer full-day kindergarten programs for students at our North Haven School. Our team has created a program that compliments what they’re learning in their classrooms, while still PLAYing, GROWing, LAUGHing & LEARNing with weekly themes based on their interests.
Snacks are not provided due to allergies. We recommend children to have a designated morning and afternoon snack packed specifically for TOPP KIDS. Please keep in mind that all of our programs are nut free!
You bet! We’re not just inclusive we are integrative.
Some of the participants in our programs need help developing and growing their communities. Social skills and group interactions can be barriers to inclusion, and our Youth Community Facilitators* are in place in programs to help particularly with these children, but also in the group as a whole.
Although the children in our programs come from a larger community in the schools they attend, they do not necessarily come into our programs with a set inclusive community. Youth Community Facilitators* are in place to grow and foster this community, and help both leaders and children come together as a cohesive group.
We try to ensure that each child is striving toward reaching their greatest potential by helping to maintain their dignity in all situations, providing opportunities for relationship and community development and growth, giving each child responsibility within their individual capacity, and helping to grow and maintain self-esteem.
